Of course, (unless you believe 100% in the inspiration of the Bible) what Jesus said and how his disciples elaborated on it may have been two very different things.

I don’t know where people get the idea that Christians should not be involved in politics. Certainly not from any early American documents. Not even from Scripture. Even Daniel and Joseph were vice-presidents in an ungodly society.
I don’t think “reclaiming the culture” is a Christian mandate — the great comission is. But I don’t think it is wrong to have and to state political views, to write to elected officials, to even run for office of one feels led.
