True Gordo. Or by slamming Spongebob because he endorses “tolerance”? Christians against tolerance? Doesn’t sound quite right, does it. Even if you think being gay is wrong (I don’t), Christ’s example was that he befriended people whom society looked down upon - e.g. prostitutes. Being tolerant doesn’t even demand that level of attention for people you disagree with. So I’d say being “tolerant” of gays is actually setting the bar pretty low.

Everyone has the right to engage in the public arena, but christians, who say they are interested in transforming peoples lives, are fooling themselves if they think that political involvement has that kind of impact. Does Dr. Dobson think he will reach souls for Christ by leaning on the Republicans to enshrine prejudice in the Constitution?

I don�t think �reclaiming the culture� is a Christian mandate � the great comission is.
Hmm, I’m not sure whether to be relieved or not.
“The Great Comission.” Like “reclaiming the culture” or “the rapture” that’s one of those phrases that isn’t found in the Bible, but is used as if Jesus himself had said it. Rather, I’m guessing it was created by an evangelical as a big idea. Not that the principle isn’t promulgated by Christ’s disciples in the Bible. Just saying.

Of course, (unless you believe 100% in the inspiration of the Bible) what Jesus said and how his disciples elaborated on it may have been two very different things.

Actually, the guy who drew it is a member of the “Conservative Brotherhood,” a group of several black conservative bloggers.

I thought it was funny, not that it was the real motivation behind religiously-motivated political activists.

Well, I am sure this is the viewpoint the left would lean toward, forgetting the fact that the Reverend Jesse Jackson and the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. were not Republican and were very much involved in politics.

I don’t know where people get the idea that Christians should not be involved in politics. Certainly not from any early American documents. Not even from Scripture. Even Daniel and Joseph were vice-presidents in an ungodly society.

I don’t think “reclaiming the culture” is a Christian mandate — the great comission is. But I don’t think it is wrong to have and to state political views, to write to elected officials, to even run for office of one feels led.
