This is the coolest thing I’ve seen in my entire life

Google, my all-time favorite company, has a new service: Google Maps. I absolutely love it.

A fairly graphics intensive walkthrough follows in the extended entry

Let’s start with a comparison to MapQuest. Both of these maps are the default maps after a search from my house to Bob Jones University. Which is more clear?

Mapquest?

Or Google Maps?

Also, the driving directions are slightly different, and, IMO, better on Google Maps.

Another cool thing: You can drag the map around. You have to go experience this one to realize how much better it is than clicking on the MapQuest buttons.

OK, so, let’s say you’ve found your way into Greenville….

…and you’re hungry. Want some Chick-fil-A? Click on the “Local Search” link on the top of the page and type “Chick-fil-A” into the search box.

And hit search. It zooms out a bit to find more results, and this is the screen you get:

You decide that you’ll go to the first one listed. How do you get there? Click on the A flag.

Then click on the Directions To Here link.

(Note: Type in the full address, with ZIP code, or it won’t work)

Then you get this:

This is so cool. I love Google.

I love this thing! I’ve been telling everyone about this. It’s so much easier to read than Mapquest or even Yahoo Driving Directions. I think its the most wonderful thing yet.
