More BJU Bloggers

I was on the IT Forums yesterday (a private, heavily moderated forum accessible only to BJU students) and I discovered a list of BJU bloggers, including several I hadn’t seen before. Some appear to be students, others appear to be grads, and a couple look like they’re missionaries. The new ones have been added to my BJU Bloggers list on the sidebar.

Jeri Massi, a BJU grad, runs Blog on the Lillypad2. Feel free to stop by.

  2. Blog Jones Says:

Oh, that’s right! I’d forgotten you were a BJU grad. You’ll be added to the BJU Blogger Roll post-haste.

  3. Jeri Massi Says:

Thanks for the addition, although, to be technically correct, the name of the blog is NOT Jeri Massi’s blog. It’s “Blog on the Lillypad2″

And, not to push it, I run a fiction alternative blog that presents Christian fiction (with an edge at times; this is not BJU Press stuff.) Don’t know if you have any twofer deals on your blog list, but SECRET RADIO tries to present a more reasl, vivid type of fiction to adult Christian readers. Here’s the link: http://home.earthlink.net/~graceblog/blogger.htm

Lord willing, as April starts, I’ll be posting A STANDARD CHRISTIAN, which is a sequel to the original SECRET RADIO story

  4. Blog Jones Says:

Ah, quite right. Title fixed, and I’ve added the Secret Radio to the list. (The title sounds like it should be read in that “telling-ghost-stories-’round-the-campfire” voice.)

  5. Jeri Massi Says:

oooooooh, Ghost stories! Actually, the original SECRET RADIO is about a corrupt Bible college in Indianapolis. I describe the story as the first Christian dark comedy. I think that we BJU grads don’t realize how great the difference was/is between BJU and some of the IFB schools that are still open and teaching sheer religious nincompoopery. After years of hearing of horrors from schools like Hyles Anderson, Texas Baptist College, and Oklahoma Bible College: sexual sin covered up instead of confronted, grossly abusive language and abusive behavior towards students, unfair and unjust practices, and really, really wretched academics (if you can even use the word “academics”), I wrote of a fictional Bible college were such things go on.

The story had quite an impact when it was first posted. I received dozens of thank you e-mails from survivors of such places. They were glad that somebody had at last told their story. And of course I received a half dozen accusations from certain preachers. Also got two threats. I ran the original SECRET RADIO twice, and now it is available in hard copy. So the sequel, A STANDARD CHRISTIAN is scheduled for April 19. In the meantime, I am running fairly inconsequential fiction on the site: a forensic mystery with a Christian character, but this is definitely light stuff until A STANDARD CHRISTIAN is ready to run. Thanks for the link!

Hmmm……I’m not quite sure I’d say heavily moderated….it’s the first thing of its kind on campus and as such is pretty amazing that 1) it exists at all and 2) didn’t get shut down altogether (especially after a couple jerks tried to spoil it for everyone else by posting stupid/nasty stuff repeatedly).

Dr. Berg in particular is the one most responsible for its continued existence.

  7. Blog Jones Says:

Every new thread has to be approved by a moderator (i.e., Berg & Co.). That’s heavily moderated.

I understand why they think they have to do it that way though. It just seems to me that you ought to just penalize the students who posted the nasty stuff instead of penalizing everyone. (Demerits, expulsion, bannination from the IT Forums, whatever.)

Holy Smoke! Next thing will see is Bob III gargoyles running lose on campus or find Fred Davis’s lost carpet. Check the basment of CVA lately?
    (wink)

  9. Squire Tuck Says:

:cool:Thumps up to the new improved BJU thanks to new blood and Stephan having the courage to make it a more friendly environment.

Bob III never found the grace side the law.
