Yes, I think to some extent it does matter which ones strike a cord with you. For example, I love Jump Start. Though you are right, most of the ones I remember laughing at when I was younger are no longer so laughable. The only non-funny comic that I enjoy is For Better or For Worse, and that is more because of an odd connection to my family than anything else.

I don't get it either. The Greenville News comics are nothing to be proud of - a lot of the authors that have been around forever seem to be just mailing it in. Seriously, I barely even smile when reading most of them. Just off-hand, the ones I think have gotten really bad (or were bad to begin with) are Hagar the Horrible, Heathcliff, Gasoline Alley, Family Circus, and Snuffy Smith. Ones on probation are Jump Start, Blondie, and Marvin. Maybe I'm just getting cranky, but Scott Adams and Dilbert seems to be stale from time to time anymore. The one I have yet to be tired of it Foxtrot - something about his sense of humor just strikes a chord with me. Maybe some of those others I mentioned strike that same chord with others. I just don't get it, though
