Republican Hypocrisy

OK, didn't the republicans cry bloody murder when Hillary Clinton ran for the New York senate seat when she hadn't lived there? So, why are they pulling the same trick with Alan Keyes? Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have Keyes in the Senate, but why's it OK for the GOP to do and not for the democrats to do?

Nothing justifies hypocrisy BUT (yeah , there comes that infamous BUT) it is crucial that we keep a majority of the senate seats and they already ruined that Illinois race by trying to smear Jack Ryan.
It was wrong to force Ryan's hand so we have no choice but to play dirty with this one.
I don't think Ryan should have left the race though, he did NOTHING wrong.

Maybe *because* she did it? "If she did it, he can to" type mentality?

If they're going to say it's wrong for their opponents to do, then I expect them to be consistent and not do the same thing. If they are following the "if she can, we can too" mentality, then they're being awfully childish.

Christians don't do "relative morality." Something is either right or it is wrong.

I have an enormous amount of respect for Mr Keyes - truly - but if he runs I will be very disappointed in him for using relative morality when it suits him.

If he turns it down, conservatives may not have a seat (they have probably lost it anyway), but Mr Keyes fortifies his soul and Christians will know they really are dealing with the man of honor they always thought he was.

Morality is doing the right thing when no one - or everyone - is watching.

Nothing justifies hypocrisy BUT

That "BUT" is too funny. It's hypocrisy plain and simple. I personally don't care that Keyes isn't from the sate. And he hasn't a prayer of winning anyway.

And as a purely secular person, I agree emphatically with Boileryard and Blog Jones. The "she did so I will" mentality is incredibly childish--is morally puerile, in fact--and certainly isn't limited to either political party.

Worse in my mind, though: this guy who ran a Democrat, promised to stay a Democrat, then changed his party affiliation at the last second when it was too late for the Dems ot place another candidate. Now, that's practically soul-less!
